DirecTV is an American broadcast satellite service provider and broadcaster based in El Segundo, California. Its satellite service, launched on June 17, 1994, transmits digital satellite television and audio to households in the United States, Latin America, and the Anglophone Caribbean. Its primary competitors are Dish Network and cable television providers. At the end of 2010, DirecTV had 19.2 million subscribers.
For a couple of months now, DirecTV has had a campaign making fun of cable by presenting over the top scenarios where your life becomes an absolute mess because you have cable. What DirecTV is doing is responding to dissatisfied cable customers through their hilarious ads, showing that you do have a choice, and that cable isn’t the only way to watch TV. Whats so funny about these ads is that they make the point that if you have cable you're not just going to run into TV problems but your whole life is going to be effected if you don't switch to DirectTV.
I don't have the imagination to come up with these hilarious ads but what DirecTV is doing is well thought out and should bring them a lot more customers since they are reaching out to the people to aren't happy with their cable providers. It won't reach out to all of them because of different target markets and how people liked to be advertised to but it will get to the ones who are really trying to find something better than what they have.
